psps for pansies
get a ds
Basically you have nothing without the things you mentioned. Thats basically what the fun is.
First of all, don’t listen to people like Mayhem who actually offer no solution to your problem. There are PSP fans and DS fans. I’m sure you’re not going to go out and trade your PSP for a DS just because some dude online said so. So, here’s the answer you were looking for:
Well, depending on your firmware version, there’s a LOT and a little you can do. I recently learned how to tweak my psp, and it’s a load of fun. First of all….I wouldn’t suggest ever upgrading past firmware version 3.03
The reason for this is simple. There’s a genius out there named Dark_Alex (who’s name you’ll come across over and over again if you look for psp hacking) who has created custom versions of the psp firmware. Currently the latest version is 3.40 OE-A. The reason for not upgrading past 3.03 official sony firmware is because to date, nobody has figured out how to downgrade that version. What Dark_Alex has figured out how to do is enable homebrew. To the non-techie this simply means “He’s hacked it”.
Currently there is a ton of choices out there for homebrew. You can run emulators ranging from a C-64, NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, N64, and even Sony PSX games (original sony playstation). In addition, you have the ability to play backup .iso files of UMD games for your psp. The game gets downloaded to your PSP memory card, and you play it off of that, rather than putting a disc in your drive. Cool, huh?
ALSO…you can customize your PSP background, the icons, the gameboot, the battery indicator, and nearly everything that you could consider the GUI of your PSP.
I’ve even come across a program that allowed my PSP to act as a remote control for my Television. How cool is that!? (pissed my wife off and got a whooping for it too)
I could go on and on about what you can do with your PSP. I won’t..cuz I’m sure you’re tired of reading this..so I’ll cut this short. If you really want to see what the possibilities are, then message me sometime. I’ll also leave you a link to the forums I subscribe to. I hope I helped!!
