Wow, talk about a compound question. Yes, it is illegal, regardless of whatever anybody else here tells you - any lawyer will tell you the same. Not only the sharing party is breaking the law. Ever notice the copyright warnings at the beginning of ALL U.S. films?
Now, will you get tracked? Chances are slim.
Just FYI, there’s no difference with regards to data transmission between downloading and simply “watching”, unless it’s streaming.
